Andean Music
In the heights of the Andean Mountains, the sounds from the soul of the people that lives here take their place in the Colombian Folklore.
The Andean Music is known for their beautiful and melodious notes, from quenas, zampoñas, guitars, charango, bombos and rattles, that shake to the people.
In our country, The Andean music is a little different. The rhythms of guitar and tiple gives it a magic touch. We've heard something about the bambucos, torbellinos, san juanito etc. but many people, especially young people, don't know anything about this piece of their culture and folklore. The modern and popular rhythms maybe be the guilties. Today is a little strange that a teenager says "I like the colombian Music", Why?, maybe beacause that isn't "cool". However some people that feels pride for his regions and oral tradition try to gives a new meaning to the Andean Music, for example the members of the Andean Music-Rock band, Bambarabanda, natives of Pasto, with funny lyrics that contain Pastuso vocabulary.
Although Andean music not as popular as ever, still has its small space in the hearts of all those who want to give it a new meaning.
His Majesty: The Bambuco
All of we have heard something about the bambuco. but, what is this really?
The bambuco is the most reprensentative musical rhythm of our country. Some researchers argue that their origin may be african, spanish or chibcha. But its clearly that their true origin, and consolidation was in the Andean Region of Colombia. With happy dances and melodic tunes made mainly for stringed instruments like the guitar, the reponsable of the mainly "riff" and basses, the tiple which gives its melodic characteristics. Sometimes the bambuco is played with another instruments, like the flute and the requinto.
We can hear the bambuco in Antioquia, Boyacá, Huila, Nariño, Tolima, etc. This kind of music is to reprensentative to Colombia, that many years before its celebrated the Reinado Nacional e Internacional del Bambuco.
